Bio
It all started in London in 1999 when Liz stepped on stage during a GUNDOG show and went down a storm, her voice and presence left the crowd begging for more. She already knew how to sing, she already knew what name she wanted for her band, she just needed some reliable musicians to work with! Without any hesitation, Ray, Nic and Herve decided to start a band with her in 2000 as a punkier alternative to their other bands: GUNDOG (London Streetpunk, R.I.P.) and KNUCKLEDUST (London HC).

DEADLINE started rehearsing as a 4 piece later that year. They started writing songs for a debut ep. After a few rehearsals, James from GUNDOG and WARRIORS decided that he had to join the band too making the definite line up as follows: Ray: drums, Nic: guitar, James: guitar, Herve: bass, Liz: vocals. The band soon booked an afternoon in the studio to record 3, now classic, tracks for a self produced 7" ep: TV Dreams. This record, self released in March 2001 in true DIY fashion, sold 1000 copies within 4 weeks through word of mouth on the underground punk circuit and instantly confirmed DEADLINE as a force to be reckoned with.DEADLINE's early live shows got a positive response from the crowd, proving that all those years of hard work gigging with KNUCKLEDUSTand GUNDOG were paying off.

A full length album "More To It" was recorded over the summer of 2001 and self released on cd the following October (New Blood CD01). This time, the vinyl version was released on German label/zine Plastic Bomb. It has sold more than 6000 units to date and the interest into the band has grown on a daily basis. DEADLINE has played with some bigger names on the scene like RANCID, THE DAMNED and THE DISTILLERS to name but a few and has gained a reputation for its superb live performances... seeing is believing!!! In spring 2002, DEADLINE went on their first, and very successful, German tour which left the crowds speechless. They then went on to play in front of a packed venue at Holidays In The Sun in Blackpool in July, returning to Germany in late August as main support for THE ADICTS.

After summer 2002 and a few more mini tours, Liz and Herve started writing songs towards a 2nd album. It was not yet decided which label would release it, but Mark Brennan came up with the best offer and "Back For More" saw the light of the day on Captain Oi! in April 2003 (AHOY CD 223). The band went on a 3 week European record release tour to promote it and played some truly fantastic shows in major cities around Europe. Plastic Bomb pressed a limited 1000 copies on clear vinyl which sold out within a few weeks before Knock Out Records took over and repressed on picture disc. "Back For More" saw the band maturing as song writers and recording musicians and received some rave reviews from both fanzines and more "mainstream" magazines in the UK, Europe and even the USA.

Unfortunately the band's increasing success lead to the first line up change. Ray & Nic, finding DEADLINE detrimental to KNUCKLEDUST, left so they could concentrate on their first love, Hardcore. Lee and Dave stepped in on guitar and drums respectively, and played their first ever show in front of a full house at the last ever Holidays In The Sun festival in July 2003. They did a great job and many fans didn't even notice the line up change. After yet more gigs, the new line up really gelled together and played probably one of the highlights of the band's short career: the Punk & Disorderly festival in Berlin in December 2003. Judging from the crowd reaction and participation, it was hard to believe that Deadline had only been on the scene for a couple of years. It looked like all the friends they had made on the road in the past 2 years were down the front. Other bands of the weekend found them hard to follow.

It was at that Festival that they met THE BONES and invited them to play a London show in March 2004…. It was a sell out and this caught the attention of People Like You Records.

In April, DEADLINE had their first taste of the USA and went on a 2 week East Coast tour with their friends in the BRASSKNUCKLE BOYS to promote a split album previously released on Haunted Town Records. They played some great gigs and made some life long friends along the way.

In May, another 3 week Euro tour saw Nico take over from Dave on drums. Six countries later and with no merchandise left they returned to get writing songs for their next full length album.

With releases on US, Malaysian and Japanese labels, it's onwards and upwards for DEADLINE from now on... Although the next few months will be quiet as far as gigs go as they will be spending time putting the finishing touches to the next album which will be recorded over the summer & autumn and will be released early 2005 on People Like You Records.

Keep your eyes open for DEADLINE because they might well be the best streetpunk band this side of 2000.
